The Fire Bell
The Fire Bell in the front yard of the Bucyrus Historical
Society was used by the Bucyrus Fire Department from 1852 to 1965. It was cast by the G.W.
Coffin & Company and bears the following inscription:
LAST ALARM MEMORIAL
TO THOSE FIRE FIGHTERS WHO GAVE THEIR LIVES
IN THE LINE OF DUTY. DONATED BY THE BUCYRUS
FIRE DEPARTMENT TO THE BUCYRUS HISTORICAL
SOCIETY 1971. In use 1852-1965.

TIME
CAPSULE
During the Sesquicentennial of the City of Bucyrus, June 25, 1971, a time capsule
was buried around the bell. "An orange plastic sesquicentennial capsule, to be opened
in 50 years which will be 2021." Rev. Raymond Menachhofer of Good Hope Lutheran
Church gave the burial service.
